I am excited about what God is doing in our community and throughout the world. My passion is to motivate, train, and send out the Church so that it can follow the two most important commandments as identified by Jesus in Matthew 22:36-40: “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?" Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
I have been married to my wife Amanda since 1998, when we met while we were students at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. We have 5 children, all boys, with three siblings that we adopted in a domestic adoption right here in Texas.
I am a career educator who was a high school science teacher, district curriculum coordinator, and eventually was the associate principal at Summer Creek High School. I also was an elementary school principal in the Seattle area.
God called our family to Everett, Washington in 2013 and we spent five years serving the Lord there as church planters and on church staff. The Seattle area is one of the most unchurched parts of all north America and God used this time to develop us spiritually and to get to know Him on a wider and deeper level. We established many friendships there and loved our community, its culture, and walked through life with many unchurched friends. God used the Northwest to deepen our passion for missions in any context.
In my spare time I enjoy backpacking trips in any available mountain range. I generally go out for 3 or more nights and travel up to 45 miles during that time. I love to see God’s creativity in nature. I also enjoy woodworking which usually means I’m building furniture for our family.
My deep desire is for God’s people to love and serve others, even in uncomfortable situations, right here in the Humble-area and around the world. Many of our own neighbors may have never heard the Gospel and have never had an encounter with Jesus, and it is our responsibility to go to them wherever they are to share and live out the Good News. I sincerely hope you will join us in grand adventure that God has for us, as we allow Him to work through us in the lives of others!
