Our Team: The Pastoral Counseling Ministry offers biblically based, Christ centered counseling and encouragement to individuals, couples, and families within Humble Area’s First Baptist Church congregation and the surrounding community. Our ministry team consists of trained volunteer lay-counselors and pastoral counselors.
Our Approach: Our approach to counseling holds that all people are designed to be in a vital and intimate relationship with God (Deuteronomy 6:5), through Jesus Christ (John 14:6), and with others (Leviticus 19:18b). Our ministry team assists the counselee in discovering and promoting progress in the manner the counselee may be dealing with painful emotions, distorted thinking, or methods of relating to others. It is our view that the role of the counselor is to walk alongside the counselee(s) and help guide them respond in a biblical way to stressful circumstances.
Our Story: There is nothing special or unique to our ministry other than our complete and utter reliance upon God as the ultimate Healer and Counselor. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” (2 Corinthians 1:3-5 NASB). HAFBC’s Pastoral Counseling Ministry is a natural outflow of living life together in the body of Christ.
